screening forms |

You receive Orientation
training, at which time information about becoming and being a foster
parent is reviewed, and your questions are answered |

You then complete a foster
care application and you are fingerprinted for a criminal background
check. You provide copies of your driver's license and current car
insurance |

At the time of your Orientation
training you receive a training schedule for the next month |

You then register for
and attend training sessions (45 hours are required for licensure).

#4 Homestudy |

You gather and submit
some additional paperwork required to be licensed, such as medical
statements for everyone in the home |

Once the required paperwork
has been completed and submitted, a Social Worker begins the homestudy,
which includes multiple home visits, a criminal background check on
all household members, a safety inspection, a fire inspection, etc |

or denies recommendation for foster care licensing to the state |

#6 Licensing |

State of Ohio licenses
you as a foster parent |

Referral worker contacts

You welcome a foster child
into your home |

You attend at least 30
hours of training a year to maintain license. (ongoing training link) |
