How to Become a Foster Parent

Dear Prospective Foster Parent:

Thank you for your interest in learning more about CHOICES Inc. and the programs we offer. We are especially grateful that you have decided to find out more about foster parenting, as there is a tremendous need for foster parents at this time. Currently, there are more children in need of families than there are homes to care for them. These children are often victims of abuse or neglect and have families who are unable to meet their needs or keep them safe.

Foster parents who can temporarily provide these children with stable nurturing homes are urgently needed. Foster parents must have the ability to be very understanding and compassionate with children. Foster parenting also requires specialized skill, can be challenging and is often demanding. However, if you should decide to become a foster parent you will learn that the rewards of taking a child into your home are amazing. Many people become foster parents because they want an opportunity to "make a difference" in a child's life. What they often learn, is this experience can also have an incredible effect on their own lives.

If foster parenting sounds like something you would like to further explore, please look at the rest of our website and take advantage of all the information provided. We hope it will be helpful in your effort to learn about foster parenting. If you should decide to pursue this rewarding challenge, please complete the information under Inquiry and we will mail you an informational packet as soon as possible. You may also feel free to call our agency to speak directly to someone in the licensing department at (937) 264-0084.

Again, thank you for your interest in foster care. We hope to see you soon as you begin the licensing process.

Sincerely,

CHOICES, Inc. Licensing Department
