Lisa Helm
HBS Worker
Greetings, my name is Lisa Helm. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the State of Ohio with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. I began my social work career in 1998 in child welfare in Hamilton County, where I worked for 8 years as a Protective Services Worker and as a Supervisor. I left full time employment for 14 years to raise my children, during which time I served for three years as a part-time Director of Children’s Ministry at a local church. I have also volunteered extensively in the community over those years. After three years at the Life Enrichment Center as part of their volunteer staff, I re-entered the workforce here at CHOICES as a part-time Home-based Services Worker in August of 2009. I am fortunate to remain in my volunteer position at the Life Enrichment Center. What a blessing it has been to have patient co-workers and supervisors as I continue learning to balance work, maintain volunteer commitments and take care of my family.
Speaking of my family, I have a wonderful husband, Tim and three children Allison, Erik and Tyler. I also have a very oppositional defiant dog named Max that I rescued almost three years ago. I love to spend any spare time with my family and I run, swim and bike to stay in shape. I try to remember that each day is a blessing and hope to live it in a way that will be pleasing to God. I am grateful for the opportunities at CHOICES to work with at-risk youth and their families and am proud to be a part of the CHOICES Family.
